With the low vacancy rates, the increase in rents and new legislation preventing renters from transferring leases (not to mention Google’s ever changing algorithms), running a moving business in Montreal is increasingly difficult. After having my own business for 27 years, I have never faced such challenges and do not believe that I will remain operational in the winter- there just aren’t enough contracts. It is a harsh reality to face but one which must be addressed. I thank all of my repeat clients and will most definitely be around next summer. I just hope that clients will continue to focus of quality as opposed to price. Everyone deserves to save money of course, it just needs to not be the only criterion. Experience indirectly allows clients to save by not having to replace damaged items or be part of an inexperienced team’s learning curve. I wish all those homeless individuals tremendous luck in finding a place to live. It is unconscionable that in today’s so called advanced society, that people are without shelter. We deserve far more from our leaders. Businesses are failing and lives are disrupted needlessly.
